Repair Café Malvern Hills

Repair Café Malvern Hills opened on 1st December 2012 and has always been managed and run entirely by volunteers. Since 2012 it has supported and funded the opening of 13 additional Repair Cafés in the region to form the Repair Café West Midlands Network.

We also support local projects and initiatives that share and promote our core ethos and values of ‘repair and reuse’ and help to promote behavioural change towards waste and recycling.  Our consistent 80% success rate proves that usually a very simple repair is all that is needed to extend the working life of a household appliance or a favourite heirloom!

Opening Times

We open on the third Saturday in each month from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm at Malvern Cube Community and Arts Centre, Albert Road North, Malvern WR14 2YF. Last orders are at 12.30pm to give our teams time to complete a repair.

What happens on the day?

When you arrive at the Repair Café we’ll register your repair request so we can assign you to the appropriate repairer who has the right skills to fix your item. While you wait, we hope you’ll enjoy the refreshments on offer in the Cube’s in-house Garden Café.  Our volunteers are always on hand to help you complete the form, explain the system if it’s your first visit and show you the way to the repair zone when your registration number is called.

You’re encouraged to sit with the repairer while the repair takes place so that you can pick up some new skills, and even help with the repair if you wish!

If your item can’t be repaired the repairer will explain why and give advice on how to dispose of it responsibly.  If required, he can also recommend the most suitable replacement. If a new part is needed to complete the repair, we can order it for you.

Sometimes a repairer will suggest that your possession is taken home to complete.  You will then be asked to sign the registration form to give your permission and it’s important that you and the repairer exchange contact details so that they can let you know when your possession is ready to collect.  Our clock repairer normally takes all clocks home.

There is no charge for any of our services but if you’re happy with the advice and help you’ve received you’ll be invited to make a donation as you leave via the Exit in the main hall.
